NSF Funds New Center for Engineering Mechanobiology

A $24 million grant from NSF over five years will fund the creation of the Center for Engineering Mechanobiology.

A $24 million grant from NSF over five years will fund the creation of the Center for Engineering Mechanobiology. Guy Genin (Engineering) and Ram Dixit (Biology) are co-directors of the WUSTL team, which includes Liz Haswell (Biology), Lucia Strader (Biology), Barbara Pickard (Engineering), Anders Carlsson (Physics), and Marcus Foston (Engineering). This center will investigate how mechanical forces affect the morphology and function of plants and animals and use this information to develop new technologies for better crop management and therapeutics.

Other partners of this center include the University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Bryn Mawr College, Alabama State University and Boston University.
