I am currently working on the role of protein oligomerization in plant gene regulation, focusing on oligomerization mediated by PB1 domains. PB1 domains are protein-protein interaction domains with an acidic face and a basic face. Each motif allows front-to-back electrostatic interactions, enabling continuous oligomerization of proteins containing PB1 domains. I am investigating the role of PB1 domain interactions in regulating two different families of transcription factors. The first are known as the Auxin Response Factors and regulate the response to the phytohormone auxin. The second are the NIN-Like Proteins and regulate the response to nitrogen availability.
