Timing and Payment
Poster printing is by appointment only. We strongly encourage you to allow 2 days upon submission of your file for the final poster to be printed. Although our turn-around is usually the same day, unforeseen problems may prevent the poster from being printed. Please let us know when you will be submitting the poster when you will need the poster, the final poster dimensions, and how you will pay for it. If your PI will be paying for it please include their name, Cost Center and Billing Number in your email.
What are your hours of operation?
Appointments are required. Email Jonathan Rapkin to set up an appointment: rapkin@wustl.edu
How do I pay for poster printing?
For payment, we send invoices to the PI on a monthly basis. We'll need the PI's contact info for our invoice (phone #, email address).
How much does it cost?
Total cost of a poster is based on a surcharge plus the cost per inch of the media used.
For paper posters final costs are calculated as shown below:
24 inch roll; $30 + $0.85 for each linear foot for satin photo production paper
E.g.; a 24X36 inch paper poster would be $32.56
36 inch roll; $35 + $1.98 for each linear foot for satin photo production paper
E.g, a 36X48 inch paper poster would be $42.92
42 inch roll; $45 + $2.17 for each linear foot for paper
E.g, a 42x54 inch paper poster would be $54.77
60 inch roll; $50 + $1.75 for each linear foot for paper)z
E.g, a 60x72 inch paper poster would be $60.50
For fabric posters:
36 inch roll; $40 + $2.75 for each linear foot for fabric
E.g, a 36X48 inch fabric poster would be $50.99
42 inch roll; $45 + $3.18 for each linear foot for fabric
E.g, a 42X54 inch fabric poster would be $59.31
Equipment and Logistics
What type of equipment do you have?
The biology department has an HP DesignJet 6800 Printer
We use LexJet PolySelect Light paper. (https://www.lexjet.com/lexjet-poly-select-light) We have fabric in 36” and 42” rolls and glossy paper in 36”, 42”, and 60” rolls.
How large a poster can I print?
40x54 inches is the largest size that can be reliably printed in Powerpoint.
What sizes are available?
The largest fabric poster rolls that we have are 42" rolls. The largest paper rolls are 60”. We cannot print 48" wide posters.
Most posters are printed using Powerpoint converted to PDF. We will print to a width of 42" and a length that maintains the correct aspect ratio. For example, if a powerpoint slide is provided that has a page setup of 30" x 40", the final print would be 42" x 56". If you require a specific size poster (e.g., 36" x 48") you must notify us with the size restraints.
Do you have tubes for poster storage and transportation?
No, we do not keep those on hand, but they can be purchased in the University's bookstore.
Can I have my poster laminated?
We do not have the ability to do that. Below is a list of copy service providers near the Danforth campus that provide lamination services. Even if you have to print a poster here and laminate it, it will still be a fraction of what printing a poster would be elsewhere - for example, the Hi/Tec copy center charges $144 to print a 36" X 48" poster.
