Environmental Medicine explores the interactions between the environment and human health, focusing on the role of the environment in causing or mediating disease. Environmental hazards are examined in terms of toxicology, epidemiology, exposure assessment, risk assessment, individual susceptibility, adaptation/maladaptation, and the total load concept. Students enrolled in the 5000-level must also complete a term paper and oral presentation. Prerequisites: General Biology I or permission of instructor. This course is hybrid, and only open to MA in Biology students.
