The Innovation Award, given by the Academy of Science in St. Louis, recognizes a scientist or engineer under age 40 who has demonstrated exceptional potential for future accomplishments in science, engineering, or technology.
“Dr. Chase has made important and excellent contributions to undergraduate and graduate instruction, curriculum and research mentoring, in particular in the burgeoning area of ecology and field research. As Director of the Tyson Research center, he is collaborating with the Shaw Nature Reserve, Missouri Botanical Garden, UMSL and Saint Louis University. His recent publication on Ecological Niches has received widespread acclaim and his ecological outreach to teachers and high school students is a model for the country.”
