Lúcia Lohmann joins the Department of Biology as the George Engelmann Professor of Botany.
She is also the president and director of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Previously a professor of integrative biology and director of the University and Jepson Herbaria at the University of California, Berkeley, Lohmann combines research and conservation to study and protect the plant biodiversity of tropical Latin America, including the rainforests of Brazil. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
