My name is Suchismita (Suchi) Ghosh. My pronouns are she/her. I am a first-generation college student originally from Kolkata, India. I went to St. Xaviers College, Kolkata for my bachelors and master’s in Biotechnology. I soon developed a deep love for plant-pathogen interactions during my Master’s project in Bose Institute Kolkata, working with chickpea and pigeoanpea infected with Helicoverpa armigera. I came to the United States in the fall of 2018 and joined the lab of Dr. Roger Innes for my PhD. During my PhD. I fell in love with cell biology and observing cells under the microscope. My passion for cell biology and love for their observation led me to my post-doctoral lab at Wash University. I joined the lab of Dr. Kevin Cox, where I take my love for microscopy a step further to do expansion microscopy on plants and plant-pathogens. In my spare time I like to read, paint, cook and discover new places. I am passionate about science and plants and look for ways to give back to my local community. I am passionate about languages and world cultures. I speak Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and English fluently and I am currently learning Arabic and Spanish.
